SURPRISE SOMEONE WITH SEED RAKHI, WINE BAGS & MORE – FROM PAPER, BACK TO PLANT !

Pinky Maheshwari, along with her mom Sharda Daga started Surprise Someone in 2015 with the mission of saving planet earth from global warming and the Greenhouse effect. Appalled by the scale of deforestation and driven by an urge to save our forest reserves, they started making products from recycled handmade paper. Since then, there have been a steady stream of innovative products from their stable, resulting in a steady stream of awards and accolades. Each of their product has life inside – literally ! They add seed to the paper products. So when you buy their seed rakhi, wine bags, or magazine holder, all these product will grow into a plant once the product life is exhausted. They are clearly a team loaded with ideas to Surprise Someone. They aim at bringing smiles on faces and have been successful in bringing millions of smiles across the globe. “If the client is a corporate client, we send the surprise gift accordingly. If she is a female client, we try to understand her likes/dislikes via social media and the surprise is chosen accordingly,” says Pinky Maheshwari, Co-founder of Surprise Someone.

Other than creating a global brand centred around sustainability, Surprise Someone has been instrumental in rural women empowerment by training thousands of girls in making recycled and handmade paper products.

WHAT MAKES THEM SPECIAL?

What’s most surprising about their products is that they make paper from cotton rags or waste cotton. They don’t cut even a single tree to make paper. All their products are 100% eco-friendly. Their products hide a beautiful secret, as they have a seed heart. They add seeds inside the paper while making their products and once you are done using the product – Voila! it becomes a plant.

Pinky and team have always felt strongly about how paper-making process uses huge amount of energy, water and chemicals and produces waste. This offsets the benefit that we get out of replacing plastics with paper. However, Surprise Someone makes handmade paper from recycled materials thatconsumes at least 50 per cent less energy and up to 75 per cent less water than virgin fibre. It also produces up to 90 per cent less wastewater and reduces air pollution by 70 per cent.
